“IL·LUSTRAFUTURS” promotion award rules

1. PURPOSE The Catalan Association of Scientific Communication (hereinafter ACCC) through theIl·lustraciència initiative and the ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation (hereinafter Obra Social "la Caixa") through CosmoCaixa (Museum of Science of the Obra Social "la Caixa"), are jointly organizing the second edition fo this award named Il·lustraFuturs. The award organizers encourage illustrators to submit artwork about the future, specifically how they imagine the cities, the environment, the society, the technology and the environment around the year 2100. This call is intended to disseminate the work of illustrators and select a total of 15 illustrations to be displayed in an exhibition in CosmoCaixa Barcelona on future trends, called "Experiment year 2100. What awaits us in the Earth of the future?". 2. DURATION OF THE PROMOTION Territorial Scope: International. Temporal Scope: This promotion is valid from 00:00 hours on the day of June 4, 2015, until 23:59 hour July 31, 2015. 3. ACCEPTANCE OF LEGISLATION Participation in the award automatically implies full acceptance of the rules and the jury's verdict. The ACCC and Obra Social "La Caixa" reserve the right to change these rules if circumstances require, warning participants well in advance, and settle any doubts that may arise in matters not provided therein, without justification and without them you can claim any responsibility as a result of the above, if not prejudice the rights acquired by the participants. 4. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION A) May participate in this award all individuals or teams who wish, resident or not in Spain. B) Participants must be natural persons of full age. The employees of the Obra Social "la Caixa" or the ACCC can not participate at the Award, nor their first-degree relatives. The three winners of the first edition of the prize may not participate and the works that have been presented in the previous edition of the award can not be presented again. C) Participants must fulfil these Official Rules. The ACCC and Obra Social "La Caixa" reserve the right to verify by any means it considers appropriate for the winner meets all the requirements of this document and the information provided to the ACCC and Obra Social "La Caixa" are accurate and true. If the participant refuses to provide the information requested by the ACCC and Obra Social "la Caixa" will be disqualified from the competition. D) The right of the ACCC and Obra Social "la Caixa" to take legal action against those who carry out any kind of measure which can be considered manipulation or falsification of the Promotion are reserved. 5. AWARDS There will be a total of 3 awarded works, whose authors will be awarded with: The opportunity to exhibit their artwork in the exhibition “Experiment year 2.100. What awaits us in the Earth of the future?” at CosmoCaixa Barcelona. 1 Wacom Graphics Tablet (CINTQ model 13HD). One tablet per awarded work. 1 Master class on conceptart given by Escola Joso (during the fourth quarter of 2015, in Barcelona). There will be 12 finalists’ works, whose authors will receive as a present: The opportunity to exhibit their artwork in the exhibition “Experiment year 2100. What awaits us in the Earth of the future?” at CosmoCaixa Barcelona. 1 Master class on conceptart given by Escola Joso (during the fourth quarter of 2015, in Barcelona). The participant will send his or her work by the official website of the Award, from June 4th, 2015 until July 31th, 2015, inclusive. And then the participant must send the work by e-mail to illustrafuturs@gmail.com. If you need it you can use the website www.wetransfer.com, that is used for sending documents with several megabytes. The jury deliberation held on September 10th, 2015 and then they will contact the Award winners. The winning authors and selected works will be published later in the official website of the award. The awards will be given at a ceremony in CosmoCaixa or will be sent by mail. The organization is empowered to exclude those participants who do not meet the requirements of these rules. No artwork offensive to personal dignity will be published. The Award cannot be exchanged for another, or for its cash value. The Award cannot be transferred to third parties without the consent of ACCC and Obra Social "la Caixa". In case of force majeure ACCC and Obra Social "la Caixa" reserves the right to substitute a prize of similar characteristics and of equal or greater value. 6. MECHANICAL OF THE PROMOTION To participate in the promotion all the participants will:
  • Provide the following information: they will fill the website formulary with Name and Surname; Title of the work; Technic; Description of work (maximum 100 characters); Email, Social networks and Website. These data will appear along with the work on the blog and social networks of IllustraFuturs (except email, in compliance with the Data Protection Act).
  • Accept the Legal Bases
  • Send a copy of the artwork in high resolution TIFF format to the following email: illustrafuturs@gmail.com indicating in the subject: name and title of the work, in order to be able to be printed (panoramic format) on A2 (594 mm width x 420 mm high) at 300 dpi.
Each participant may submit a single work. The work must be original and must have been made in the previous year or in the year of this call (for the period from January 2013 to July 2015). The work should not be sent or have been sent to other awards or contests that are held simultaneously. Similarly, the works submitted to the competition should not be subject to evaluation or opinion on any publishing until the jury decision is issued. Doing so, illustrators will be disqualified. The professional jury will evaluate the proposals and will select by unanimity or majority vote the three winning illustrations and twelve-selected illustrations. The works will be selected for its informative capacity, style and technological and scientific rigor. Composition of the jury Professionals specialized in illustration, the winners of the last edition of Il·lustraFuturs and scientific communication will be the jury responsible for selecting the three winning illustrations and twelve-selected illustrations, according to criteria of originality and quality. The jury will automatically discard any illustration that does not fulfil with these rules. Participants of this award are obliged to meet the specific and general conditions of this, and its non-compliance will mean expulsion from the competition and the loss of any right to it. If the participant does not agree with them, please do not participate. Obra Social "la Caixa" and the ACCC will be exempted from any obligation or compensation to participants in the contest if force majeure or by law, the Award has to be cancelled or suspended, a situation that the organisation would conveniently inform of the participants. The satisfied Award is subject to the provision tax that may apply. 7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY By accepting these legal basis participants whose works are submitted expressly agreed to give up his or her work without territorial or temporary limitation, to the organizer who can use these pictures to promote this event and the exibition on “Experiment any 2.100. Què ens espera a la Terra del futur?”. The participants authorize the ACCC and Obra Social "la Caixa" and grant the rights of reproduction, use for exhibition, promotional cataloge and publicity of the illustrations sent to the call, no time limit, in any medium, physical format or electronic or telematic, through any system, method or mode of communication, including diffusion through social networks in which ACCC and Obra Social "la Caixa" group entities or both have page or profile or through third parties that link illustration through the fiche of the call. The copyrights of other elements such as merchandising from the exhibition will be negotiated directly with the authors. The publication of the illustration on the website of this award in any way imply any transfer of ownership to third parties or use it for any other purpose and shall, where appropriate, third, seek consent to ACCC and "la Caixa" for the use. In the case that in the illustration refer to participation in the contest include images of third parties, the entrant warrants having informed that person and have the necessary authorization, and for the corresponding assignment of rights image. ACCC and Obra Social "la Caixa" may at any time require such authorization. The illustrations participating in this contest may be published for a year in the exhibition "Experiment 2100. What awaits us in the Earth of the future?" at CosmoCaixa Barcelona and will be disseminated on the websites of the ACCC and the Obra Social "La Caixa" or entities of the ACCC and the group of Obra Social "la Caixa", being stored in them indefinitely. In this sense, the participant declares that the holder of the rights to the illustration, or where appropriate, ensure that you have the necessary rights and authorizations from the author. In any case, the participant agrees to be the lonely responsible for any claim by a third party claiming to have rights to the images or claim by a third party that appears on them without their consent. The winning illustrations of some of the awards will give the rights to reproduction of the work for two years and not exclusively. 8. RESPONSIBILITIES The participants in this Award exempt, in a broadly way in the law, to the ACCC and the Obra Social “la Caixa” of any liability, penalty, claim, demand or civil, commercial, criminal or administrative cause, including compensation of any nature, expenses and costs (expressly including attorneys' fees and attorneys) for any claim that may receive as a result of a breach by the participants of any obligations under these Terms. 9. PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION The ACCC and Obra Social "la Caixa" ensure proper processing of personal data in accordance with Law 15/1999 on Personal Data Protection (LOPD). In this regard, we note that the personal data that will be facilitated by the participants to participate in this Award will be included in separate files owned by Obra Social "la Caixa" and the ACCC, for the following purposes:
  1. Manage the participation in this award;
  2. Manage the selection of winners and awarding of prizes;
  3. Get data from people interested in the services of the ACCC and the Obra Social "la Caixa" to periodically refer you promotional information of them, including by electronic means. This purpose is inherent for participating in this promotion, so if the participants do not want their data will be used for promotional purpose and voices opposition to the use of their data for such purpose, such objection mean loss of eligible in the contest and eligible for the award.
By voluntarily providing personal data, the user expressly consents to treatment by Obra Social "la Caixa" and the ACCC for the above purposes. At any time, the participant may exercise their rights of access, rectification, cancellation and opposition by sending a letter to the ACCC, to address Rambla de Catalunya, 10, 1, 08007 Barcelona, and/or writing through site www.obrasocial.lacaixa.es in the "Customer Care" option, located at the bottom of the screen, with the reference "personal data" or sending a letter to Obra Social "la Caixa" - Organization Department, Avenida Diagonal No. 621, 08028 - Barcelona. 10. TAX DEDUCTIONS The awards aim of this promotion are subject to withholding tax for the Income Tax of Individuals under Article 75.3.f) of Royal Law 439/2007, amending the Income Tax Regulations approved, being its base of retention above 300 € (three hundred euros). Said payment on account shall be assumed by the ACCC and Obra Social "la Caixa" who proceed to their income to the State Tax Administration Agency.
